The Rio di Cannaregio turns into a real water stage with a show that every year attracts thousands of spectators, where floating structures transfer the theme of Carnival to the water. The show is about 2 hours. An outstanding evening show will bring music, rhythm, joy along Cannaregio shores, opening in the best way the Carnival of Venice 2020.
Festa Veneziana on the water- Second Part
Location: Rio di Cannaregio
Date: February 9, 2020
From: 10:30 to 13:00
This is the typical feast for venetians and for all the guests interested in local traditions. Veneta will sail along the Canal Grande with the music and rhythm will accompany the water parade. to the folkloristic district of Cannaregio, where the audience will watch these unique boats and where the eno-gastronomic stalls by A.E.P.E., with the traditional carnival delicacies, will offer venetian food specialities.
Closing Ceremony
THE “Svolo del Leon”
Location: Piazza San Marco
Date: February 25, 2020
From: 17:00 to 18:00
The so called “ Svolo del Leon “ puts symbolically the word end to the Carnival events. It is an enormous flag of San Marco depicting the famous winged lion that will be taken up with a pulley system, from the square packed with people, where formerly took place the coronation of the “ Maria” winner of Carnival, up to St Mark's bell tower. In the background the musicians of the Fenice BrassOperà will play the anthem of San Marco. The event is a ritual of great beauty, a tribute to the city's landmark.

Mester Carnival Street Show

Over 70 companies, 300 artists and 150 shows during these days will create a Mestre Carnival Street Show that will overwhelm and make your heart play. Every day the PIAZZA FERRETTO STAGE will host professional artists of every kind and their amazing concerts and shows that range from tip tap to circus theatre, from rock bands to the pop string quartet featuring the special guest Neja, worldwide queen of dance hits. For the children, but also for everyone, the stage will be coloured everyday with the entertaining SFILATA DELLA MASCHERINA (Parade of the little mask), funny games and gags by our crazy hosts.
Best Mask Contest
Location: Piazza San Marco
Date: February 20-24, 2020
The Best Mask Contest is a masks competition that takes place every year in Venice during the Carnival of Venice. The competitors parade on stage will be held twice a day in the Saint Mark’s Square. The participants will challenge each other by masks and costumes, wigs, feathers and caps. The experts will select the 2 winners of the two categories: Best Masked Costume and Best Masked Costume according to the theme of the Venice Carnival 2020. On the final selection, will appear all the participants that have won the previous parades.
Festa Delle Marie
Location: Piazza San Marco
Date: February 15, 2020
The “Festa delle Marie” is articulated in different days and it is the occasion to admire the traditional Venetian period costumes. The event will be inaugurated with the parade of the twelve girls selected in the previous weeks. The traditional "Festa della Marie" will start at San Pietro di Castello at 2.30 pm, will parade all along Via Garibaldi and Riva degli Schiavoni and it will reach san Marco stage at 4.00 pm, where the twelve "Marias" will be introduced to the crowd waiting for them.
